Chief, Tokyo Fire Department (TFD)
President, International Fire Chiefs’ Association of Asia (IFCAA)
I am delighted to announce that the 34th General Conference of the International Fire Chiefs’ Association of Asia (IFCAA) will be held in Nagoya, Japan, in 2026. On this occasion, I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all IFCAA members, as well as fire and disaster management professionals across Asia, Oceania, and around the world.
In recent years, a wide range of natural disasters including earthquakes, typhoons, torrential rains, volcanic eruptions, wildfires, and landslides, have struck many parts of the world, claiming precious lives and causing the loss of valuable property.
Moreover, the impacts of global climate change have further intensified and increased the frequency of these disasters, resulting in unprecedented crises and human suffering.
Amid such circumstances, it is our solemn responsibility as fire chiefs and disaster management professionals to strengthen cooperation beyond national and regional boundaries, and to dedicate ourselves fully to our noble mission of protecting the lives, safety, and property of our people.
This General Conference will bring together fire service leaders and disaster management professionals from across Asia, Oceania, and other regions. It will provide a valuable platform to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discuss common challenges. I am confident that these discussions will make a significant contribution to the further advancement of fire and disaster management and to enhancing our collective response capabilities.
I sincerely look forward to the active participation of many members and delegations, and to welcoming you all to IFCAA 2026 Nagoya.

ITO Kazuyoshi
Fire Chief, Nagoya City Fire Bureau
Chairman, IFCAA 2026 Nagoya Executive Committee
It is our great honor to host IFCAA 2026 NAGOYA (the 34th IFCAA General Conference, the 78th FCAJ General Conference, and International Fire and Safety Exhibition) in Nagoya City, welcoming many fire service professionals from across Japan as well as various countries and regions throughout Asia and Oceania.
Nagoya City has developed as a city where history and culture, represented by the Owari Tokugawa family, continue to thrive today, centered around Nagoya Castle, along with traditional crafts and culinary culture. In 2026, the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 and 5th Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026, Asia’s largest sporting festivals, are also scheduled to be held here. This presents an excellent opportunity for many people to visit our city, and we believe it will be a special year that deepens connections with the Asia-Oceania region.
In recent years, the Asia-Oceania region has experienced numerous large-scale natural disasters including wildfires, torrential rains, earthquakes, and tsunamis, resulting in the loss of many precious lives and properties annually. Under these circumstances, fire services are expected by residents to fulfill the noble mission of protecting community safety and security, making international cooperation beyond national and regional boundaries increasingly important. In this context, bringing together many fire service professionals from both domestic and international communities to exchange knowledge, techniques, experiences, and opinions is extremely meaningful, and we are confident that this will greatly contribute to the development of fire administration in each country and region. In conclusion, we sincerely hope that IFCAA 2026 NAGOYA will bring significant achievements to all participants and serve as a meaningful and fruitful venue for everyone involved.
